The Youth Services Program provides school-based substance abuse education, prevention and intervention to students in elementary, middle school, and high school grades. Its goal is to reduce risk-taking behaviors associated with substance use and abuse among youth in Cambridge and Somerville.
Youth Services promotes positive youth development by teaching key social and critical thinking skills through a combination of classroom presentations, small psycho educational groups for at-risk students, and individual counseling for students with special needs. In addition to its direct work with young people, Youth Services supports and trains parents and works with teachers and administrators to influence the school environment. |
